How do I divert my missed calls to Hold The Fort?
You keep your number and tell your network to send three kinds of calls to your Hold The Fort number: calls you don't answer, calls when you're busy, and calls when your phone is off or has no signal. Calls you answer still reach you. Pick your network below for the exact steps.
What does diverting my calls do?
You keep your number. You tell your phone network to send some of your calls on to your own Hold The Fort number:
- calls you don't answer
- calls that come in while you're on another call
- calls when your phone is off or has no signal
Calls you answer still come to you as normal.
What should I check before I start?
- Have your Hold The Fort number ready.
- Check your phone plan. Most networks treat a diverted call like a call you make from your phone to that number, and some charge for the divert feature itself. Your network's page below says what it publishes.
- On Vodafone pay as you go? Vodafone says pay as you go can only divert calls to voicemail, so you can't divert to us on that plan. Two ways round it: move to a Vodafone monthly plan and keep your number, or give customers your Hold The Fort number as your business number. See Divert on Vodafone.
What happens to my voicemail?
Diverting replaces your voicemail for those calls. We answer them instead. If you turn the divert off later, each network page tells you how to get your voicemail back.
Which network am I on, and where are the steps?
| Network | Mobile or home phone | Page |
|---|---|---|
| EE | Mobile | Divert on EE |
| Vodafone | Mobile, and Vodafone Business landline | Divert on Vodafone |
| O2 | Mobile | Divert on O2 |
| Three | Mobile | Divert on Three |
| BT | Home phone and BT Business line | Divert on BT |
| Sky | Sky Mobile and Sky Talk home phone | Divert on Sky |
What each network says about cost:
| Network | What a diverted call costs, per the network's own pages |
|---|---|
| EE | Charged at your plan's call rate; comes out of your allowance if covered |
| Vodafone | Not stated on the pages we checked. Pay as you go can't divert to us (move to a monthly plan, or use your Hold The Fort number as your business number) |
| O2 | Not stated on the pages we checked |
| Three | Each diverted call is charged, depending on the number type (Advanced Plans price guide) |
| BT | Diverted part of each call charged unless your package covers it. BT Business: divert is a paid add-on |
| Sky | Sky Mobile: same as calling that number. Sky Talk: Call Diversion £2.50 a month, plus the diverted part of each call |
Not listed? Ask your network how to divert calls you don't answer, calls when you're busy and calls when you can't be reached, or email us.
Can I divert only missed calls on an iPhone?
The iPhone's own Call Forwarding setting sends every call on, so your phone wouldn't ring at all. To divert only the calls you miss, use your network's codes, or ask your network. Apple's guide says the same: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph7405291c4/ios
How do I check it works?
Ask someone to ring your usual number and let it ring out. See the test call guide.
How do I turn the divert off?
On most mobiles, dialling ##002# cancels all your diverts (EE, O2 and Vodafone say so on their own pages). Home phones use their own codes, on each network page. If you're closing your Hold The Fort account, turn your divert off first.
