Can't get to the phone? Hold The Fort will.

Last checked: 18 October 2026

Hold The Fort by Capstone is an AI that answers your phone when you can't. It tells every caller it's an AI assistant, takes their name, number and what they need, and saves you a message so you know who to ring back.

Ring it and try it 01327 228522

It's an AI, not a person. Calls are recorded.

Talk to it like one of your customers would. Ask about a job, give it your details, and hear what it takes down.

How it works

  1. Someone rings while you're busy.

You're up a ladder, under a sink, driving, or with another customer.

  2. Hold The Fort answers.

It says straight away that it's an AI assistant and that the call is recorded, then asks how it can help.

  3. It takes the message.

It gets the caller's name, the best number to ring back on, what it's about, when suits them and how urgent it is.

  4. You ring back knowing who it was.

No guessing at a missed number, no voicemail nobody left.

What it does

  • Answers your calls when you can't, so callers get a reply and not a ringing phone.
  • Says it's an AI. The opening line is: "Hello, you're through to [your business]. I'm [your assistant's name], an AI assistant, and calls are recorded so we can help you properly. How can I help?" If someone asks whether they're talking to a person, it tells them it isn't.
  • Takes a proper message: name, callback number, what the job or question is, when they'd like a call back, and how urgent it is.
  • Takes job requests, not bookings. It never tells a caller a job is booked. You decide what goes in your diary.
  • Lets you know. When someone leaves a message, we text the mobile number saved on your line. You can also read every message in the app.

Hear it for yourself

You don't have to take our word for any of this.

What it doesn't do yet

We'd rather tell you now than have you find out later.

  • Putting urgent calls through to your mobile: not yet. It's being built and tested. For now it takes the message and marks how urgent it is.
  • WhatsApp and email answering: not yet. For now it answers phone calls only.
  • Booking jobs into your diary: no. It takes the job request. You confirm it.
  • Prices: not set yet. We'll publish them here when they're agreed.

Who it's for

Trades first. Builders, roofers, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, joiners and heating engineers: anyone whose hands are full when the phone goes.

Then any business that misses calls. If you're often with a customer, out on a job or driving when the phone rings, it's for you too. For example:
